Globes Part 1

And it begins! Ricky Gervais is holding a drink.  Makes a Charlie Sheen joke.  The night is off to a good start folks!  Now he's trashing The Tourist.  Says the only reason it's nominated is because the HFPA wanted to hang out with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.  So true.  Something got bleeped, he must have cursed.  It's a little early, don't you think Gervais?  I can't tell if the crowd loves him or hates him, but they sure are vocal.  The reaction cutaways are pretty hilarious.

Scarlet Johanson is here (in a sparkling dress) to announce Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.  And it's...Christian Bale.  Just as I predicted, but let's see if I can keep getting them tonight.  His hair is very long.  Not sure why.  He gives a shout-out to his costars, mostly Mark Wahlberg.  And the music is playing him off while he's still speaking.  Wow, we're going to start that this early?  Sounds like he said something that got bleeped out too.  It was about Robert De Niro, I think.

Now it's Best Actress in a Television Drama.  The winner is...Katey Sagal for Sons of Anarchy.  It's her 5th nomination and 1st win.  I don't watch the show, but she looks so happy it's hard not to root for her.  And she's getting played off with music too!  Man, I think they're only giving the winners about a minute.  I hope the remaining winners have short speeches, or this is going to get old fast.
